Tour to Achilleion, Kanoni and South Corfu

We introduce a new full-day tour to Achilleion Palace Gardens, which will take you to Kanoni Peninsula, Mon Repo Estate, and Benitses Village, offering a 3-hour leisure time at Marathias Beach. This is a perfect choice to see monuments, panoramic views, a lovely village and a golden sand beach. Have a look at our tour description and book your tickets before they are sold out!

The tour takes place every Thursday and Sunday from 09:00 to 19:00h and we depart from the Douglas Column, a central location in Corfu Town.

Hotel pickup is available, on request, depending on your location.

1. Kanoni and Pontikonissi

The tour will start by visiting the most photographed spot in Corfu and one of the most known images in Greece: Kanoni Peninsula, with the view of Pontikonissi and the Monastery of Vlacherna, very close to the airport runway. These two islets are very popular and you’ll recognize them as soon as you have a first glance.

After taking the best picture of your holidays, you may have a relaxing cup of coffee while admiring the panorama, visit the tiny monastery or take a boat to Pontikonissi Island.

2. Mon Repo Palace

A few minutes from our first stop, Mon Repos Estate lies on the slopes of Kanoni, close to Garitsa Bay, in a green natural peninsula overlooking the sea.

Experience the tranquillity of this place, a serene oasis of refreshing gardens and views, where plants from around the world have created a lush and exotic forest. Here, a captivating 19th-century palace houses a small museum with ancient photographs and costumes, as well as artefacts found in the many archaeological sites of the area.

The building, an architectural Neoclassic masterpiece, was the birthplace of Prince Philip of Edinburgh, and the Greek Royal Family used to spend many holidays in this lovely place until 1969.

3. A Tour of Achilleion Palace Gardens is a Must!

Follow in the footsteps of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, also known as “Sisi,” and explore the enchanting gardens of the Achilleion. Admire the statues of ancient philosophers, mythical heroes, and gods. Take a moment to reflect on Sisi’s life, who sought refuge amidst the beauty of Achilleion, which she described as her “paradise”.

The marble sculptures will tell you all her secrets for sure!

*The tour will take you to the Achilleion Palace Gardens (entrance not included, price around 5 euros per person). Please advise that the Palace building is under restoration and the museum cannot be visited.

4. Benitses Village

Benitses is a beautiful seaside village on Corfu’s East Coast, facing the Greek Mainland. Here you will have time to explore shops with souvenirs, tavernas serving authentic Greek cuisine, and bakeries tempting you with typical salty and sweet pies. Savour a leisurely Greek coffee or indulge in a snack, relishing local flavours in its main street’s lively atmosphere.

5. Beach Time: Marathias Golden Seaside

The Tour to Achilleion Palace also has leisure time by the sea on Marathias Beach*. The place has a magnificent sandy beach, well-known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters, and golden sands, surrounded by olive groves among green sandy slopes. Families with young children will find an exciting water park where kids of all ages can splash and play safely. If you prefer a tasty lunch, choose one of the seaside taverns and restaurants for fresh, locally sourced cuisine for all tastes. Order a refreshing cocktail, a special hamburger, or fresh local fish, and feel the breeze and the sunshine at this quiet and lovely beach.

The tour takes place every Tuesday and Saturday from 09:00 to 19:00h.

The schedule of this Tour to Achilleion may be changed depending on the weather conditions. In case of unfavourable weather, the time spent on the beaches might be replaced by visiting an olive oil museum or picturesque nearby villages.

Please be at the meeting point at 08:50, 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

*All passengers must wear dry clothes in the vehicle and change their bathing suits before boarding if they have been swimming.
